Introducing the Pricing Power Parity Pilot
Wiley launched the Open Access Pricing Power Parity Pilot (OAPPPP) for researchers across Latin America to support equitable access. This initiative adjusts article processing charges (APCs) based on World Bank economic data according to each country’s purchasing power. Researchers in 33 countries—including Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean—will receive country-specific APC discounts for OA publishing. This model creates a fairer cost structure, ensuring that economic disparities do not block authors from publishing their work. The pilot runs for 12 months beginning in January 2025, with a mid-point review to assess impact and collect feedback. Once accepted for publication, eligible authors automatically receive the discount based on their institution’s country—no extra steps are required. This seamless process encourages participation and helps researchers focus on their work rather than financial limitations.
