Peopoly Launches Magnet-Driven FFF 3D Printer

Hong Kong-based Peopoly Inc. Ltd. today launched its latest desktop 3D printer, Magneto X, featuring the company’s proprietary MagXY magnetic levitation linear motor system for the X and Y axes, which allows it to achieve what it calls “unprecedented repeatability of 3 microns.”

The printer uses fused filament fabrication (FFF) technology –– also known as fused deposition modeling, or FDM –– to print a continuous filament of thermoplastic material. But the true innovation involves the elimination of all belts and pulleys. It is compatible with a variety of materials such as ABS, polylactic acid (PLA), glycol-modified PET (PETG), acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA), and nylon-carbon fiber.

The MagXY levitation linear motor system replaces legacy belt-and-pulley systems.

The MagYX is said to offer a more streamlined motion system compared to those reliant on belts and stepper motors. In contrast to traditional stepper motors, which can suffer from reduced precision under heavy loads, the MagXY system remains cool, and is said to sustain its accuracy through a true closed-loop system with position feedback.

Magneto X’s Lancer extruder system delivers an extrusion force of 90 Newtons and a filament speed of 30 mm/sec for quick, consistent 3D printing.

Magneto X’s low-friction linear motor allows it to achieve print speeds of up to 1,200 mm/sec and a maximum acceleration of 22,000 mm^2/sec. Peopoly, which was founded in 2016, claims the printer’s extrusion system extrudes plastic quickly and consistently, at a rate of 30 mm/sec.

The printer has a 400 x 300 x 300 mm build volume and features four independently driven Z-axes for enhanced stability and leveling accuracy. The company offers optional side enclosure panels and a top cover for the printer, which also has a 1080-pixel high-definition camera for real-time monitoring and time-lapse recording.

The printer’s flexible build plate heats quickly and features a polyetherimide (PEI) magnetic surface for convenient print removal.

The printer itself measures 55 x 61 x 70 cm. This video summarizes its features.

Peopoly is taking pre-orders for Magneto X from today, in limited quantities, with a special price of US$1,399. After the pre-order offer expires, it will cost $1,999.
