Plastics Hall of Fame Seeking Nominees for Class of 2024

Individuals are recognized for lifetime achievements and exceptional contributions to plastics

The Plastics Hall of Fame Inc. has issued a call for nominations for its Class of 2024, to be recognized and formally inducted in a black-tie event next May 5 at the NPE 2024 trade show in Orlando, Fla. They will be recognized again at the K Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, in October 2025.

Nominations are due no later than Oct. 1, 2023, using this form

The group’s president, Dr. Maureen Steinwall—herself an inductee in 2015—notes that “The Plastics Hall of Fame strives to celebrate future leaders as they bring forward sustainable solutions through innovative polymer compositions and systems for society’s betterment. Our members are pioneering researchers, scholars, innovators and leaders from all over the world who created materials and products that have answered society’s needs and transformed the way we live.”

Celebrating Excellence Worldwide

Dr. Maureen Steinwall

Founded in 1972, the hall has 218 members, including 38 living members, from nine countries. Among them are five winners of the Nobel Prize in chemistry. (See this video to learn more.)

The Plastics Hall of Fame, Steinwall adds, is a recognition of a lifetime body of work of an individual whose dedication and exceptional achievements have contributed to the growth and prominence of the plastics industry on a global scale.

The Plastics Hall of Fame honors the people who introduced, through their innovative leadership and scholarship, efficient solutions to societal needs using plastics. As the plastics industry has evolved, the Plastics Hall of Fame remembers and honors the dedicated work of these individuals.

The nonprofit Plastics Hall of Fame relies entirely on donations and is run by volunteers but also welcomes supporting sponsorships.

“If you know someone you believe qualifies for induction,” Steinwall says, “nominate him or her for the Plastics Hall of Fame.”
