Ticona announces Fortron 6162XF polyphenylene sulfide

Ticona announced the availability of Fortron® 6162XF, a mineral/glass- reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) with superior fuel resistance for customers that are developing applications for use in aggressive fuels.

The new advanced fuel resistant Fortron PPS grade has reduced weight gain by more than 45 percent compared to Fortron 6165A6, which has been used successfully in fuel systems. Both Fortron PPS grades are well suited for applications that require components that need extremely high dimensional stability during storage in aggressive fuels. Applications can include impellers, outlet covers and fuel injector components.

"In 1,000-hour exposure tests in CM15A fuel conducted at 194 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius), Fortron 6162XF exhibited superior fuel resistance, with a weight change of less than 1 percent," said Ralf Langhammer, Ticona fuel systems market development engineer.

Ticona, a global leader in polymers for fuel system applications, developed Fortron 6162XF to meet changing industry requirements for higher operating temperatures in highly oxygenated fuels.
