DuPont at Pharmapack 2012: NEW grade of low friction, low wear DuPont™ Delrin® acetal resin extend the range of Special Control and Premium Control grades

The range of high performance polymers available from DuPont for use in medical devices, including the new DuPont™ Delrin® SC699 acetal resin  forms the focal point of the company’s exhibit at Pharmapack 2012 in Paris (stand 561). Their use enables the design and manufacture of highly-accurate, reliable, durable and convenient products, as illustrated by the launch last year of the UnoPen™, a disposable, variable-dose injector pen for insulin and other therapies by the company Ypsomed AG (Burgdorf, Switzerland).

Dow Corning uses Malvern Viscotek GPC to provide customers with in-depth polymer structure data

The installation of a multi-detection Viscotek TDAmax gel permeation chromatography (GPC) system from Malvern Instruments is enabling Dow Corning Europe S.A. in Belgium to meet customer demand for increasingly comprehensive polymer structure data. In addition, Dow Corning experts are saving resources by applying rapid, cost-effective GPC methods to pre-select the most promising new polymer candidates, significantly reducing the number of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) investigations required wherever possible.

Frommelt Safety Introduces Guardian Defender: New Automated Barrier Door Features Improved Controls, More Resilient Curtain Material

Frommelt Safety has just introduced the industry’s most sophisticated automated barrier door, the Guardian Defender. Designed to guard machinery, contain processes and protect employees from robotic/machine movement zones, the new door boasts patent-pending upgrades to its non-contact safety switch configuration, control systems and interlocking capabilities. It also features a new, more resilient curtain material that resists a wider array of application driven hazards and offers optional variable frequency drive to control curtain speed.  In addition, it utilizes new quick-disconnect cables, which allow for easier installation and integration than comparable barrier doors.

Global Demand for Plastics Processing Machinery to Reach $28.9 Billion in 2015

Global demand for plastics processing machinery is projected to rise 6.0 percent annually through 2015 to $28.9 billion, a rebound from market declines experienced during the recession-impacted 2005-2010 period.  Sales growth will be driven by an acceleration in plastic product manufacturing, as well as by a favorable fixed investment environment worldwide.  Many nations are building up their plastics manufacturing infrastructure, due to both rising domestic demand for plastics-consuming goods and export opportunities to developed nations.  These and other trends are presented in World Plastics Processing Machinery, a new study from The Freedonia Group, Inc., a Cleveland-based industry market research firm.
