SPE to Recognize 'Honored Service Members' at ANTEC® 2017

At next month’s SPE ANTEC® 2017, SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers) will introduce three new Honored Service Members who are being recognized for their contributions to the Society.
ANTEC 2017, the world’s largest plastics technical conference, will take place May 8-10 at the Hilton Anaheim, Anaheim, CA, U.S.A.
Only 325 members, including the current inductees, have received Honored Service Member recognition since the honor was established in 1992. To be chosen, a candidate must have demonstrated long-term, outstanding service to, and support of, the Society and its objectives.
The new honorees are:
- Dr. Donald Duvall, PhD- Senior Managing Consultant, Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI). Dr. Duvall is currently a Senior Managing Consultant with the Aurora, Illinois office of Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI). He has been a member of SPE since 1981 and has served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Engineering Properties & Structure Division, and the Failure Analysis & Prevention Special Interest Group. Additionally, he was Technical Program Chair for the Engineering Properties & Structure Division, Failure Analysis & Prevention Special Interest Group and the Plastic Pipe & Fittings Special Interest Group. Donald was a founding member and is the current Chair of the Plastic Pipe & Fittings Special Interest Group. He also served for 25 years as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Mechanical, Materials & Aerospace Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). - Mr. Benjamin Lopez- Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH. For the last 30 years, Benjamin Lopez has been working in the blow molding industry at Battenfeld Fischer, Uniloy Milacron, Bekum and Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH. His expertise in process, machinery developments and technical support is appreciated by customers worldwide. He joined the Board of Directors of the SPE Blow Molding Division in 2004 and has served as Secretary, Chairman and Treasurer. During his time as a Chairman and Past Chair, the committee was able to increase the recognition value of the Division to the industry and considerably raised the number of the ABC conference attendants and exhibitors. In these years, the Blow Molding Division won the Communication Excellence Award four times and the Gold Pinnacle Award six times. Mr. Lopez implemented, directed and participated in a special education committee of the Blow Molding Board to develop and initiate a beta blow molding training class at a state technical community college and established a blow molding training program. - Ms. Marie-France Sosa- Director of Sales & Project Development Plastiques GPR. Presently the Director of Sales at Plastiques GPR and spokesperson for the certification in sustainable development, Mrs. Sosa has more than 24 years’ experience in the plastics industry. She holds a Bachelor in Industrial Design from the University of Québec, a technical degree in applied technologies of plastics materials, and 3 Certificates in sales & negotiation, customer service and marketing from the renowned HEC Business School of Montreal. Mrs. Sosa occupied diversified positions in various plastic companies such as quality control, product design, sales of plastic resins and processing machinery, and project management. Involved since 1993 on the Board of Directors of the Quebec Section, she has served as Secretary, Education Chair, Membership Chair, Program Chair, President, and most recently the North-East TopCon 2016 Chair. She was elected Personality of the Year in 2001 by the Quebec Section. Mrs. Sosa also served as special event organizer for the Canadian Plastics Industry Association and as a training advisor for the Canadian Plastics Sector Council. Nominated by the Quebec Section
