Plastics are booming in construction
When you think of plastic, what comes to mind? Toys, food storage, electronics, medical applications? While these markets are popular, construction is the market truly on the rise. A study conducted by BCC Research found that, "After packaging, the construction sector is the highest user of plastics, due to its combination of excellent strength to weight ratio, great versatility, cost-effectiveness, durability, low maintenance and corrosion resistance." DuPont leaders tout biopolymers and technology for improved sustainability
Following the release of a Markets and Markets report that predicts biopolymers to see double-digit growth over the next five years, two DuPont business leaders took the stage Dec. 9 and Dec. 10 at The European Biopolymer Summit 2015 to talk about high-performance materials solutions in packaging, automotive and other consumer markets. DuPont currently offers the industry’s widest range of bio-based, engineering grade polymers with a variety of performance attributes that range from strong and stiff to flexible. These materials are used in vehicle components, residential carpets, sporting goods and cellphones. Read More
First foaming head for blow molding
The most interesting new technology at the Society of Plastic Engineer’s recent 31st Annual Blow Molding Conference in Pittsburgh October 12-14 (www.blowmoldingdivision.org), is certainly W. Mueller GmbH’s continuous physical foaming extrusion head. Mueller in Troisdorf-Spich, Germany, introduced the head at NPE 2015, but the blow molding conference was the first presentation of the technology. Read More
