Efficiency 30 million times

KWK dosage spoons The correct dosage in medicine can make all the difference between a healing remedy and a deadly poison. Consequently, precise dosing aids are important tools in pharmacy. The Upper Austrian company Kunststoffwerk Kremsmünster (KWK) supplies a wide range of dosage systems. To step up its dosage spoon production, KWK chose the all-electric injection molding technology from Wittmann Battenfeld. The new production cell, consisting of an EcoPower 110/35 injection molding machine, two W832 linear robots from Wittmann and an automatic packaging station, has impressively demonstrated its efficiency during its first year in production by churning out more than 30 million dosage spoons. Innovation at Versatile Mold and design scanning EDM electrodes

Versatile Mold EDM scanning The quality team at Versatile Mold were challenged to figure out how to distinguish Versatile Mold from their competitors. They felt there was no better way than to improve their quality while shortening the design and qualification cycle. Determining that the earlier in a project errors might be detected led them to a very innovative process. They would verify the correctness of an injection molding tool before any steel was cut. First automatic sorting of plastic film by polymer

PE December Blog Postconsumer mixed plastic film is at the bottom of the material recovery facility (MRF) waste chain. Both in Europe and the U.S. mixed plastic film, known as "2D 1-7" (two dimensional film, polymers 1 through 7) is a contaminant that lowers the value of recycled paper. So MRFs typically remove plastic film from the paper stream, either by hand or automatically. Automatic removal of film from paper by near infrared vision sorting isn’t new. It has been done commercially at MRFs in Europe and the U.S. for at least ten years, notes Jonathan Clarke, country manager for the U.K. division of Tomra Sorting AS in Asker, Norway, which makes TiTech NIR sortation devices.
